Sculptors' Saw.

Spyral wire saw blades are the only wire saw with an actual 360-degree cutting tooth. Other wire saws are made of multiple twisted wires that abrade their way through the material and are limited in what they can cut. Not a twisted flat blade, Spyral wire saws are a single tempered steel round wire with a continuous spiral tooth that cuts in any direction — capable of cutting all foam materials, cardboard, wood, bone, aluminum, brass, and mild steel.

Because Spyral saw wires can be made in any length, they are used for cutting large structures and materials. That has included the cutting of a 10-foot-diameter pattern — used to cast a mold — of a whale for the Smithsonian. The foam pattern contained an internal structure of wood and fasteners that the saw wire had to cut through in addition to the foam. They are also used to build large foam constructions for movie sets and models. These applications frequently use a powered reciprocating saw on one end of the blade and a spring on the other, instead of a large frame.
